The Alliance of Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS) is proud to offer ongoing training opportunities for both members and non-members. These training opportunities are approved for Continuing Education Units through the National Association of Social Workers or the Association of Social Work Boards.

Sport Social Work: Promoting Social Justice and Social Change for Vulnerable Athletes


This panel discussion will (1) introduce participants to the history of the Sport Social Work Movement, (2) provide an overview of the behavioral health and psychosocial needs of secondary, collegiate, and professional athletes, and (3) review the roles of social workers in promoting the social justice of vulnerable athletes. This panel will also highlight the ethical principles and values that guide Sport Social Work and future aspirations for the Sport Social Work field. This will be achieved through the moderation of Dr. David Albright (University of Alabama) and through the active participation of audience members. The panel is comprised of several national experts on Sport Social Work (Dr. Emmett Gill - University of Texas, Dr. Ginger Gummelt - Lamar University, and Dr. Matt Moore, Ball State University.


One-hour CEU will be provided to ASWIS members for $5. Non-ASWIS members can earn the one-hour CEU for $25 or register as a professional member for ($75) and receive access to the CEU for free. Once you've paid for the course through our PayPal link we will send you a copy of the post-test. Upon successful completion of the post-test your certificate will be emailed within 72 hours.
